American Legends: The Legacy of Dodge Performance

Dodge, like many of the biggest automobile brands, started from humble origins. It was founded by two brothers, Horace and John Dodge, in 1900, and they only intended to sell bicycles. But the emerging automobile market got the brothers’ attention, and within a few short years, they transitioned to manufacturing automobile components and even engines.

The first Dodge automobile, the Model 30, was sold in 1914, and the rest is history. At Guy's Automotive, we take pride in the work we do to keep your Dodge running at its best. Our expert technicians know what a special brand Dodge is, and we’ll be sure to give your vehicle the care it deserves.

The Muscle Car Era

Dodge muscle cars are some of the best-known milestones in car manufacturing history. Starting with the Dart 330 and culminating with the Dodge Charger, the company’s line of muscle cars became some of the most successful American cars in history. Known for being expensive gas guzzlers, Dodge gradually transitioned its muscle cars to more budget-friendly models.

The 1990s saw the introduction of the famous Dodge Viper, as well as a slew of redesigned performance vehicles showcasing the best of American muscle heritage. The Dodge Challenger, Dodge Journey, Dodge Durango, and Dodge Grand Caravan all became iconic vehicles in their own right.

The Dawn of the Dodge RAM

No talk of Dodge vehicles is complete without mentioning Dodge’s truck line, RAM. The Dodge RAM owes its origins to a truck lineup originally produced by Fiat in 1917, which was bought out by Dodge in 1981. RAMs were the brand’s first pickup trucks, renowned for their great fuel efficiency and smooth ride.

The Dodge Truck Division rebranded all the company’s truck lines to RAM in 1994. The truck fleet became some of the most popular in the world, right until RAM became its own independent brand in 2009. Today, RAM Trucks operates as its own company separate from Dodge, but the truck lineup remains as impressive as ever.

Dodge Vehicle Maintenance Schedules

Regular maintenance of your Dodge vehicle is the key to ensuring its lifecycle. At Guy's Automotive, we make it a point to perform routine checks and vehicle repairs as needed and according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Here’s a quick overview of the kind of maintenance your Dodge vehicle will need over its lifetime.

  • 7,000-mile service: Dodge vehicles require oil and filter changes roughly every 7,000 miles or so, but driving in severe weather conditions can degrade these components faster. That goes for driving in extreme cold as well as driving in extreme heat. You should also know that driving in areas with a lot of sand, dust, or debris can degrade your filter more quickly.
  • 14,000-mile service: This is the time to replace the engine and cabin air filters. Driving too much without replacing them can render them clogged and ineffective, so don’t put it off. Plus, if you do a lot of stop-and-go city driving, your brakes will probably need maintenance or replacement by now. Guy's Automotive’s team of expert technicians will check your exhaust system, battery efficiency, and suspension while we’re at it.
  • 21,000-mile service: Brakes wear out over time, causing the vehicle to become less responsive to your inputs. That’s not good when the input involves stopping, so be sure to take your Dodge into Guy's Automotive for a brake check. You’ll probably need brake fluid replacement by the 21,000-mile mark. There’s a good chance the tread on your tires will need maintenance by now as well.
